Chief John Oates brings more than 30 years of fire service leadership and expertise in public safety data, analytics, and organizational performance to Translate. A nationally recognized leader, he specializes in helping public safety organizations use research and data to improve decision-making, reduce risk, and strengthen operational effectiveness.

As President and CEO of the International Public Safety Data Institute (I-PSDI), John leads the advancement of innovative data platforms, including NFORS Analytics, Exposure Tracker, and FireCARES. His experience as Fire Chief of East Hartford, Connecticut, and his extensive national leadership in firefighter health and safety bring a practical, operational perspective to his work.
